About Us
At our Time Bank Centre, we believe in the power of community, where everyone has something valuable to offer. By exchanging skills and services through Time Banking, we create a space where people can support one another, build friendships, and strengthen the local community. Whether you’re here to give your time, receive help, or simply enjoy a friendly chat, we welcome you to be part of something special. Learn more about what we do and how you can get involved.
Welcome to our Time Bank Centre, where we believe in building a supportive and inclusive community through the exchange of skills, knowledge, and services. Our mission is simple: to create a space where people from all walks of life can come together, help each other, and share their talents. Through Time Banking, members offer their time and skills to others and, in return, receive help when they need it – all in exchange for Time Credits, not money. Every contribution is valued equally, fostering a sense of mutual respect and cooperation.
At our Centre on 30a St. Osyth Road in Clacton-on-Sea, we run a variety of activities chosen by our members, including art and craft days, family research sessions, social afternoons, and drop-in sessions for board games and cards. Our activities are designed to be inclusive, welcoming those with conditions such as dyslexia, autism, or brain injuries. We provide a safe and friendly environment, particularly for those referred by mental health organisations like Mind, helping individuals with social anxiety or nervous dispositions feel comfortable and supported.
In addition to our social activities, we offer practical support such as help with benefits queries, Blue Badge renewals, PIP claims, CV writing, and job applications. Members can also access WiFi and receive guidance on various administrative tasks. We actively collaborate with local groups and organisations to extend the benefits of Time Banking throughout the Tendring area, empowering community groups to become mini Time Banks and share skills locally.
Our Centre is run by dedicated volunteers, and we always welcome more hands to help with tasks like sorting donations, decorating the Centre, and maintaining our website and social media. We also fundraise through platforms like Easyfundraising, Amazon Smile, and the Essex Lottery, ensuring we can continue offering our services and expanding our reach.
Whether you’re looking to share your skills, seek help, or simply enjoy some company, we invite you to join us at the Centre. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community.
Why Volunteer?
The main object of Time Banking is to help people to help each other, by exchanging skills and information, for Time Credits rather than money. This can be in the Time Bank Centre, at individual members’ premises or in groups, such as our walking group, the Clacton Walking and Social group.
