Support for Mental Health
Finding the right support for mental health can be challenging, especially in smaller communities. That’s why Tendring Time Bank, based in Clacton-on-Sea, provides a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone can feel safe, valued, and understood.

We know mental wellbeing matters. Whether you live with anxiety, depression, social isolation, or long-term conditions, having a network of people who care makes a big difference. Our centre offers friendly drop-in sessions, skill-sharing opportunities, and community activities that boost confidence and reduce loneliness.
We work closely with local mental health organisations like Mind, and often receive referrals from professionals. However, you don’t need a referral to join. Anyone in the Tendring area looking for social connection, routine, or meaningful involvement is welcome.
What makes us different is our use of Time Banking. Every time you help someone—whether through a chat, a task, or running an activity—you earn Time Credits. You can then use those credits when you need help. This fair, respectful exchange builds trust and empowers everyone.

Our environment is calm and non-judgemental. People with autism, dyslexia, PTSD, or brain injuries find comfort here. We structure activities to be low-pressure and enjoyable. From craft afternoons to light admin work, there’s something for everyone to take part in without stress.
In addition, our volunteers and staff receive mental health awareness training. We listen, encourage, and check in regularly. You’re never just a number here—you’re a valued member of a community that cares.

Beyond group sessions, we also support people with practical help. This might include benefits advice, form filling, or job-seeking support. Often, taking care of these life tasks can lift a big weight off your shoulders, making room for recovery.
If you or someone you know needs support for mental health in Clacton or the wider Tendring area, our doors are open. It’s never too late to ask for support or join a caring community.
