Twiddle Mitts for Clacton Hospital
Recently, we were honoured to respond to a special request from Clacton Hospital. The hospital reached out to ask for Twiddle Mitts, which are knitted or crocheted hand warmers designed for people with dementia. These mitts provide sensory stimulation through attached beads, buttons, and textured fabrics, helping to ease anxiety and restlessness.
Additionally, the hospital requested Twiddle Mitts that could cover cannulas, offering both functionality and comfort for patients undergoing medical treatments. Our Craft Group was thrilled to take on this project, knowing the impact it would have on patients and their families.
Items We Have Made and Donated
Our dedicated members have poured their hearts into creating beautiful and practical items that support various causes. Some of our recent contributions include:
- Hats for the Homeless: Cosy, hand-knitted hats to help those facing homelessness stay warm during the colder months.
- Winter Warmers: A range of scarves, gloves, and socks donated to shelters and community centres, spreading warmth and care during the winter season.
- Farmers’ Welfare: Support for our hardworking farmers through knitted mittens and other essentials, offering them a little extra comfort as they face the challenges of rural life.
